The 'Reinvention List' That Changed My Entire Mindset

There was a season in my life when everything looked okay, but inside, I felt stuck. Not hopeless — just quietly disconnected. I knew I wasn’t living fully as the person God created me to be. I didn’t need a new city or a new job. I needed a renewed mind.

Scripture says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). That kind of transformation doesn’t start with changing your environment — it starts with changing what you believe and speak.

That’s when I created something that shifted everything for me: The Reinvention List. Not a vision board, not manifestation, not “speaking things into the universe.” This was about aligning my life, habits, and words with what God says is true.

What Is a Reinvention List?

It’s a written and spoken reminder of who you are becoming in Christ. It’s not about creating a new identity — it’s about agreeing with the one God already gave you.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10).

Your Reinvention List is not wishful thinking. It is truth-based living.

Why Our Words Matter

Before I even wrote a single thing, I realized something important: my words were shaping my life.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21).What we say either breathes life or drains it. God spoke the world into existence. Jesus calmed storms with words. Our words are not meaningless — they can align with life or with destruction.

When I started saying things like, “I’m just always anxious,” or “This is just who I am,” I wasn’t being honest — I was speaking defeat. Instead, I began speaking life, out loud, not just in writing.

How I Created My Reinvention List

I sat down with a journal and asked God to reveal where I had been living beneath my calling. At the top of the page I wrote:

“Lord, who are You calling me to become in this season?”

Then I began writing statements based on scripture and truth. Here are a few examples:

  • I wake up with purpose because God’s mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23)

  • I speak with confidence because “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear” (Hebrews 13:6)

  • I write and create to glorify God, not for approval

  • I care for my body because it is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19)

  • I no longer speak death over my life, only truth and hope

Why This Worked Spiritually and Mentally

This list wasn’t magic. It didn’t “attract” anything. It simply reminded me to renew my mind daily, and to speak life instead of defeat.

When I spoke these truths out loud — even when I didn’t feel them yet — my heart began to follow. Faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17), and that includes hearing yourself speak God’s Word.

How to Create Your Own Reinvention List

1. Start with prayer

Ask God to reveal what needs to be renewed.

2. Use scripture as your foundation

Here are prompts to guide you:

  • What does God say about me?

  • What lies have I been speaking about myself?

  • Where do I need to replace fear with faith?

3. Write your statements in present tense

Example:

  • “I am strong and courageous because the Lord goes with me” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

  • “I am being transformed by the renewing of my mind” (Romans 12:2)

4. Say it out loud daily

Not for the universe to hear, but for your heart to believe and for your thoughts to align with truth.

What Happened Afterward

I didn’t wake up a new person the next morning. But I stopped speaking death over my own life. I stopped agreeing with fear. I began agreeing with God.

Over time, I started to notice the shift. Not perfection, but progress. Not striving, but surrender.

To Summarize..

You don’t need a new year, a new location, or a new version of yourself. You need a renewed mind, a willing heart, and words that speak life.

Your Reinvention List isn’t about becoming someone different — it’s about becoming who God already knows you are.

So here’s the question — what will you write, and what will you speak?
